Print - LAUL WMYJ Awards Dinner
Los Angeles Urban League
BRAND IDENTITY - EVENT
The Los Angeles Urban League’s annual Whitney M. Young, Jr. Awards dinner honors various leaders inside of the BIPOC community and is attended by many high-profile celebrities and community supporters. This organization strives to help African Americans and others in underserved communities achieve their highest true social parity, economic self-reliance, power, and civil rights. The League promotes economic empowerment through education and job training, housing and community development, workforce development, entrepreneurship, health, and quality of life.
As the senior designer working with the marketing representatives for LAUL and collaborating with their web design team, I was responsible for all digital and printed event materials, including mailed/digital invitation, day-of-event items (menus, program cards, raffle/favor tickets, and directional signage) and on-screen visuals (PowerPoint slides) on-site at the Kodak Theater in Hollywood.
LAUL asked for an elegant theme that would honor the event awardees, Magic and Cookie Johnson while also referencing philanthropy. I personally coined the event tagline and designed the overall look for the event - using brown hues and wispy magical dust accents to speak to the demographic supported by LAUL and to play on the nickname of the main honoree, Earvin “Magic” Johnson.
Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop were used to create this design, providing multiple drafts before landing on the final design.
