BRAND IDENTITY - EVENT

The Afro Ball is an annual scholarship benefit hosted by the University of Southern California Black Alumni Association. I was recommissioned as the lead designer to develop the event’s digital and print visual identity, shaping the overall aesthetic experience for the gala.

The creative challenge was to reinterpret the official University of Southern California brand palette through a Wakanda-inspired Afrofuturist lens. The concept required balancing Afrocentric cultural motifs with futuristic visual language while maintaining alignment with USC’s established brand standards.

The final visual system achieves this balance through the use of world-building and space-inspired typography, hexagonal geometric structures, and layered technological effects, creating an immersive aesthetic that brings attendees into USC’s vision of Afrofuturism.

As lead designer, I directed the creative concept and produced the animated event visuals. Motion graphics were developed in Adobe After Effects, with supporting graphic elements designed in Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop.

The featured animation was displayed on the main stage center screen during the event at Avalon Hollywood, presented to an audience of more than 300 alumni and guests, including honored football Hall of Fame inductee Reggie Bush.
